THE BITE
Offshore/Near shore: April 29, 2010
The bite is finally starting to heat up! Blue water is now producing Yellowfin mixed with the usually wahoo and shingle dolphin. The Gaffers should be showing very soon. Grouper season opens soon. The bonito are here. We’ve been catching them at all their usual haunts within 5 miles from the beach. Try sea bass fishing while you are waiting for them to come up to the surface. Sometimes that works better than running up on them and potentially pushing them down. On that note, the black sea bass have been plentiful and the spiny dogfish seem to be thinning out. We’ve also picked up some flounder offshore.
Inshore: (4/29/2010)
We have fished a little in the back water in the past few weeks. The drum, though skittish, have been biting well. We’ve also picked up some grey trout. Looking forward to catching them in the turn basin soon.
